Emotional Assistance

The mission of Diamond Willow Ministries as a
Christ centered relief organization
is to empower and develop
healthy Christian youth, families and leaders
by meeting current spiritual,
emotional, and physical needs
within the Native American community.

CRISIS INTERVENTION
Building trust with individuals within our community is essential in working together and providing support when crises arise. When called, we are able to come alongside individuals in our community to provide prayer and support.

WAKE & FUNERAL SERVICES
Wake services are held for either one or two evenings before a funeral. Typically they begin at 8pm and last late into the evening with family and friends staying all night long. Music, singing in Dakota as well as English, and memories are shared during this speical time, with an evening meal served. Typically a funeral will last several hours, with burial following, and a meal served to all in attendance.

Prayers, encouragement, music, and the message of Christ are shared during this time of loss, when the love and support of others is needed.

Diamond Willow Ministries is able to open the Ikce Oyate Christian Center for wake and funeral services as well as support members of our community with prayer, encouragement, music, and the message of Christ at wakes and funerals held at various other locations within the reservation.

LIFE SKILLS TRAINING
Supporting members of our community in developing life skills is another avenue of assistance. Whether it is making a phone call to help an individual obtain electricity for the first time, taking someone to a driver's license test, helping to fill out forms for a copy of a birth certificate, or proofreading a letter, a new life skill is obtained.
